The Akron department tasked with preparing, zoning, community aid, business growth and utilizing a strategic program for the metropolis will be beneath new leadership in August.

James Hardy, deputy mayor for integrated development, has approved a position with the Robert Wood Johnson Basis as a senior method officer, successful at the conclusion of July.

Hardy was Mayor Dan Horrigan’s 1st chief of team. He turned deputy mayor for integrated improvement when that office was produced in 2018.

A previous Akron faculty board president who spearheaded fairness troubles for Summit County Community Overall health, Hardy typically showed his enthusiasm for racial, financial and social justice though pitching Horrigan’s agenda to council and the public. He was changed as chief of employees by Annie McFadden, who managed Horrigan’s political strategies for mayor.

Horrigan has picked Sean Vollman, a progress legal professional with 22 decades of expertise, to consider Hardy’s place as head of the Business office of Built-in Progress beginning Aug. 2.

“Serving Mayor Horrigan and the metropolis I simply call household — as main of employees and as deputy mayor — has been an honor and privilege,” Hardy explained in a launch. “I will without end be proud of what the city attained for the duration of my time here, and grateful for the possibility to have been a part of it.
